TADCASTER ALBION 4 YORKSHIRE AMATEUR 0

Albion had a penalty appeal turned down after 10 minutes when the ball appeared to strike the defenders arm. Albion took the lead when Braithwaite hit a left foot 30 yard shot into the top corner. There then followed a scappy period of football where both teams cancelled each other out and created very little in terms of goal scoring opportunities. After 37 minutes, Albion doubled their lead when Brandon was brought down in the area. Brandon picked himself up and scored with a penalty hit to the keepers left. Just before the break, Brandon had a shot from outside the area that was saved. Albion took some time to get into gear at the start of the second half and a vital close range save from Ryder prevented an 'Ammers goal. Biscombe replaced Sunley on the left of midfield. After 61 minutes Smith received the ball on the right wing and hit a cross come shot that sailed over the keeper into the net to make it 3-0. A few minutes later Smith headed a Jeff cross over the bar, that was to be his final contribution he was replaced soon after by Storey. After 70 minutes, Matthews came on for Brandon and almost scored with his first touch when his header was saved by the keeper. Albion were now in the ascendancy with Storey and Matthews tormenting the Ammers defenders. Storey hit a shot wide wide following an Albion corner after 82 minutes. The fourth goal, after 86 minutes, was created by Storey who took on and beat a defender and crossed the ball low for Braithwaite to run on to and score from inside the area. Matthews had a couple of efforts, one shot went wide and another was tipped over for a corner. In the final minutes Storey cut in from the left wing and tried to beat the keeper at his near post  only to see his shot saved.

TADCASTER ALBION 4 ECCLESHILL UTD 0

Albion were unchanged from the team that beat Eccleshill five days previous. They dominated the second game in a similar style to the way they controlled the second half at Eccleshill. They had a couple of early efforts, one went wide and one was well saved. After 20 minutes they made the breakthrough when Braithwaite received the ball on the edge of the area, he appeared to stumble and lose possession but he fought back and was able to get a shot in from the edge of the area that beat the keeper. Albion doubled their lead, after 35 minutes, when Braithwaite ran onto a through ball, judged the bounce perfectly and headed over the advancing keeper. Eccleshill posed very few problems for the Albion defence. After 51 minutes, Sunley ran onto a Thompson ball over the top, squared it to Braithwaite who hit a first time low shot that the keeper got a hand to but was unable to prevent from going in. Albion made a double substitution after 58 minutes, Smith & Woolard replaced Braithwaite & Whitehead. With an hour played a wind assisted cross come shot hit the Albion bar with Ryder frantically back pedalling. Jeff replaced Dawson after 65 minutes. Albion had chances to extend their lead, Brandon was one on one with the keeper and had his effort saved, Taylor shot wide & Woolard had a chance saved. With 5 minutes left, Taylor made a run into the box, instead of shooting, he played the ball to Brandon who scored from within the 6 yard box.

ECCLESHILL UTD 0 TADCASTER ALBION 2

Albion overcame their inform opponents in extremely difficult conditions, the match was played in persistant heavy rain & the playing surface became very muddy. Eccleshill were the first to have an attempt on goal, as early as the 3rd minute Ryder needed to be alert and was forced to tip the ball over his bar from a long range shot. A few minutes later Ryder was again called into action when he rushed off his line to save at the feet of an Eccleshill forward. Albion’s first effort was a shot from Whitehead that went wide, after 12 minutes. Braithwaite had a powerful shot well saved after 16 minutes. Albion opened the scoring after 25 minutes, a series of passes on the edge of the box ended when Brandon’s lay off to Thompson was driven home from 20 yards. Just before half time, Albion had a couple of shots blocked and then a good save denied Thompson from 8 yards. After the restart, Thompson had a shot that was off target. With 62 minutes played, Whitehead was brought down in the area and the referee awarded a penalty. After a lengthy delay, Brandon blasted penalty to the keepers right to make it 2-0. Albion were now in total control of the game and made a couple of substitutions, with Watson replacing James and Jeff replacing Braithwaite. After 78 minutes, Jeff had a shot that the keeper tipped round for a corner. With 10 minutes to go, Storey replaced Brandon. With Ryder a spectator in the second half, he was finally called in action when he saved a shot from outside the area. Storey had a shot saved by the impressive Eccleshill keeper with a couple of minutes left.

AFC EMLEY 1 TADCASTER ALBION 2

Albion won their third game in five days with another impressive performance. Emley started the better of the two teams and Ryder was forced to make a couple of early saves. Emley scored after 23 minutes when Biscombe conceded possession in defence and Emley punished Albion with a cross from the right wing that was met at the far post by a sliding effort that  had just enough pace on it to dribble over the line. Albion first effort was a Braithwaite low shot that was saved. Ryder was forced to tip a shot over the bar after 30 minutes and moments later Emley carved the Albion defence open and had a shot that was just wide of the post. With 40 minutes played Smith had a free kick that was easily saved and Thompson had a shot, that was heading for the bottom corner, saved. Just before the break Pitts had a overhead kick from a Sunley corner that went wide. Albion stepped up their performance and totally dominated the second half. Braithwaite had a shot saved after 53 minutes. A minute later, Smith crossed the ball from the bye line, Whitehead flicked a near post header that hit the post & keeper before going in at the near post. Emley had a couple of rare second half efforts on the Albion goal with a shot that was easily saved by Ryder and a cross come shot that hit the post. After 84 minutes, Woolard had a couple of efforts the first was a back heel in the 6 yard area that looked to be going in until the Emley keeper pulled off another brilliant save, the second chance was a close range shot that went wide. With the game entering injury time, Sunley crossed the ball from the left wing to Taylor who blasted the ball home from inside the penalty area.

BARTON TOWN OLD BOYS 2 TADCASTER ALBION 2

Albion, who were without injured goalkeeper Tom Ryder, got off to the worst possible start conceding a goal after only 90 seconds. The Barton player eluded a few tackles and was allowed to cross the ball to Moody who had a simple tap in. Things got worse after 6 minutes when a cross from the Barton left wing was headed home by Barlow. Albion's first chance was a James header from a Smith cross that was well saved after 11 minutes. Barton could have made it three with 18 minutes played, only a great save from Cammage prevented a goal. Thompson had a free kick that dipped late and hit the top of the net and Smith nearly scored after the keeper parried a shot to the far post. After 35 minutes Barton hit the post and the ball rebounded kindly to Cammage. Albion started to look livelier in the last ten minutes of the half, they forced a few corners and created a few more chances. Albion scored with their first attack after the break, Taylor found some space running towards the area and hit a shot against the bar, the ball rebounded out to Sunley who cooly slotted the ball beyond the keeper and inside the far post  from a difficult angle. After 50 minutes a cross from Taylor was fired over by Brandon. Whitehead, who was getting alot of space and causing problems on the right flank, had a shot saved after 53 minutes. Thompson had another free kick that was just over the bar. James was booked after 62 minutes. After 65 minutes Albion won a free kick, Sunley delivered the free kick into the 6 yard box where Whitehead had lost his marker and headed home. Albion made a couple of substitutions, both goalscorers Sunley & Whitehead were replaced by Braithwaite & Storey. Barton had been less of an attacking threat in the second half, their best chance came with 7 minutes to go, when they broke clear and Cammage did well to force the player wide and prevent a shot on goal. Smith had a chance after 85 minutes when he broke clear and under pressure he shot early, the shot was saved and the ball rebounded back to him but his second effort was hit over. In the last few minutes James limped off and was replaced by Jeff. The game ended level and Albions promotion hopes remain firmly intact.
