The Club is looking forward to building on its success with the continued support of principle sponsor 2inspire. Rob Northfield of 2inspire has agreed to take over as chairman following the Club's AGM next month. He formally addressed the team and Club members for the first time saying, “The club has entered a new era, and started to create a history of success. Future success will be based on fresh investment, a spirit of fun, appreciation and a desire at all levels to succeed. We look forward to working even more for and with the local community as well as concentrating on improved performance on the pitch. We invite anyone interested in our plans to contact me and especially if you wish in some way to offer support to Tadcaster Albion.”

A message from Leeds Carnegie manager, Graham Potter.

Can I just take the opportunity to pass on my congratulations to Paul Marshall and his coaching staff and players at Tadcaster Albion for becoming NCEL Division 1 Champions. Tadcaster have been strong and consistent all year and I am pleased for the club who I know have waited a long time for some silverware. They have had to overcome the adversity of the recent floods and it is a huge credit to Paul and his players that they have taken the club to the next level.

I would also like to congratulate Mark Brier, Darren Atwood and the players at Brighouse Town. They put together a fantastic run of results this season and I am sure that the disappointment of losing out on the league title will be compensated for by promotion which is a magnificent achievement by everyone at the club.

I would like to wish both clubs the best of luck in the Northern Counties East Premier Division.

Graham.

Paul Marshall has described tonight's game as the biggest in the club's 118 year history.

Albion need to win to seal promotion and the championship.

Marshall, who combines the roles of chairman and manager, said: “It’s all set up for us, it's the biggest game in the club’s history.

“Tadcaster have never won anything in their history and it would be a massive achievement if we can win it.”

Last season, Albion finished third from bottom of the table and in financial turmoil, but Marshall has transformed the club on and off the field.

“It’s been a great turnaround from last season,” he said. “Everybody was saying ‘poor old Tadcaster’ and we struggled year in and year out with fires and floods."

“It’s nice to have some success. Everybody has worked extremely hard to put us on a level footing."

“When you are so close to success, you really want to finish the job off.”

With so much at stake, Marshall is refusing to underestimate the threat posed by mid-table Hemsworth.

He said: “The equation is simple – if we don’t win, we don’t go up.

“The players have got to be on their game and fully motivated to win the league, which they should be, Hemsworth are the league’s third highest goalscorers, so it’s going to be a tough game.

“But we have got everybody available and I’ve got some massive decisions to make.”

Reaction to Tadcaster Albion controversial defeat at Whickham.

Albion boss Paul Marshall was left fuming by what he discribed a “devastating” decision.

Played in a gale force wind that made it difficult for either team to play any decent football. Both teams were deadlocked at 0-0 with just seconds to go after 120 minutes of very few goal scoring opportunities.

Then, as a Whickham corner came in Albion defender Paul James was ruled to have impeded a home striker. James was sent off and the resulting penalty sent the Tadcaster side back home cursing their bad luck.

Said manager Marshall: “Nobody else saw a foul and Paul afterwards said the lad just ran into him. And not only do they get a penalty but Paul’s sent off and he now faces a three-match ban.

“It was a nothing game and we thought ‘okay, let’s get them down to Tad on Tuesday and we’ll beat them there’.

“We never played well, but they never had a shot until the penalty, so to go out like that is devastating.”

3/10/2009

Manager, Paul Marshall has descibed his pride in Albion's FA Vase performance.

He said, "It's been a great effort by all the lads. Saturday wasn't our best performances but we got the job done and we got 900 quid for it.

"All credit to the side for the way we played, they all worked exceptionally hard and they did the club proud, it was an absolutely superb result.

"The whole club's buzzing at the moment, we've just got to keep it going."

Marshall has already starting doing his homework on Whickham, the side they face in the next round.

"They play in the Northern League 2nd Division, I was speaking to someone from Marske Utd who beat them 2-0 recently and he was saying they are a big, strong team who are well organised. They have a lad called Pitt who scores a lot of goals for them so we'll look out for that. But now teams will be looking at us after our start to the season," he said.

18/9/2009

Tadcaster Albion have signed the former Goole player manager, Nigel Danby. Danby, a centre back, left Goole last week.
